YAY! I was a runner up in both contests held during 2012!!!! I am so so so so happy!!!!! =) And it is a real HONOR! for me because I was so blown away by the beautiful pictures that were entered. So much talent. So much inspiration. So many different styles. . . it is so interesting how the same object can be seen so differently through different eyes. And I love learning from my pairs. Admiring their art. Their work. . . Such a honor!!!!
A couple of months ago I participated on my first contest ever (FTL). I was nervous and anxious. I had a theme!!!! I did not know much but I knew something: I wanted to do something “different”. The theme was enchanted so I refused to go to internet to look for inspiration because I did not want to “copy” ideas. Even not wanting I was afraid I could do so. So whenever I have to work on a theme I NEVER research the theme to see how others viewed it. I like to see others perspectives once mine was defined from me. . . from inside . . . I just close my eyes and try to find it. And the funny thing is that my ideas in the 99% of the cases come to my mind while I am sleeping. . . Sooo weird . . .
So thinking of “enchanted” I thought of magic, dreams, innocence… and for some reason I thought of “bubbles” (which limited me because I wanted to avoid the same old same bubbly picture) . . . (By the way, the glass ornament idea to represent the bubbles I dreamt it when I was working on my “sparkle” Project 52). So I went in my room where my daughter was wearing her night gown, placed her in front of that beautiful window, hang the bubbles from the curtain rod and told her just to do “her thing”. Have fun with it! And here is the result with this beautiful backlight and dramatic shadows (to bring more “drama” I thought of a chocolate B&W editing).
I turned this in and luckily! they liked it too!!!!!! ;-)

Then, I played with my boy who was not happy for not participating. For some reason, I connect the word “enchanted” to girls. . . but no!!! He, also wearing his PJ’s, grabbed his enchanted items and gave me the best of the poses in front of the same window. PP helped me to get rid of the table (where he was standing on), and here is the shot. I could’ve had presented this one as well. But despite I did not, I want to keep it here to share if with you.
I wanted to make it fun. So I decided not to lose colors and the edit is clean and colorful. Aren’t his pants soooo cool!!!!? ;-) My Viking!

Then, the second contest came. Just last week. And the theme was “water”. Again I wanted to do something “different”. I had so many pictures I recently took with water. And one of them with this yummy backlight that always makes you melt. But again, wanted to think of a different image. In a different setting. So I let these two beautiful brothers do their thing. With nests trying to fish (then they realized that there were not any fishes) I went to the distance to take completely unexpected and unposed pictures. Wanted to capture The Moment. And I did. Actually I captured several of them ;-) but chose this one to turn in. And you know what? luckily: they liked it too!!!! YAY! another winner ;-) Thank you thank you thank you!!!!!!! (right now I am dancing and singing… yes, you are lucky you are not experiencing this not so pleasant moment… hehe).

And this one is one of my favorites I took the same day. I was going to present this one but then I decided for the other one. . . and I realized that I am loving contests . . . So let’s start!!!! =)

My congratulations to all the other winners, and to all the participants. There were so many gorgeous pictures in both of the contests. I am so happy I didn’t have to be the one picking the winners… I wouldn’t know what to do!!!!
Congrats to all! and let’s continue having fun!!!
Thank you to Finding the Light to make this possible. Not only the organization of a contest with beautiful prizes. But for me being able to take pictures using the light in this way. Without Detra (Jen and Gail) this would not be possible. Thank you!
